Robert Parker's Wine Advocate #223
2013 'Ancient Vines', Bedrock Vineyard | 90 Points
The 2013 Proprietary Red Ancient Vines from Bedrock Vineyard is a blend of 35% Mourvèdre, 32% Carignane and 33% Zinfandel from vines planted in 1888. The original founders of the vineyard certainly knew what they were doing, as evidenced by this wine, which shows loads of spice, earth, pepper and plenty of berry fruit. Blueberry, black raspberry and cherries are the dominant flavors in this delicious field blend. Drink it over the next 5-6 years.
One of my favorite under-the-radar wineries for a number of years has been Dashe. The prices are reasonable, the quality high, and the wines filled with personality.
