NEWSWine Spectator gives great ratings to two Dashe wines
July 15th, 2007 92 points Dashe Cellars 2004 Zinfandel Louvau Vineyard Old Vines SOLD OUT !! "Ripe, intense and rich, this is expressive and focused, with black raspberry and black pepper. Toasty oak aromas and jammy black cherry and spice flavors lead to zesty tannins on the finish." -James Laube July 30th, 2007 90 points Dashe Cellars 2004 Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley "SMART BUY" SOLD OUT!! “Big, ripe, and jammy, with an intriguingly rustic, chewy core. Aromas of raspberry, wild berry, and a dash of spice lead to zesty, sweet-tasting flavors of blackberry cobbler and licorice. Drink now through 2011. –James Laube
90-point score from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
In the June 2006 issue of Mr. Parker's Wine Advocate (out in July); we were pleased with his 90-point rating and very nice comments about the 2004 Dashe Cellars Dry Creek zinfandel. We also noted that we were the most value-priced wine out of a slew of 90+ point rated zinfandels, which proves our point that Dashe is one of the best quality-to-value wines out there on the shelves:
June issues of Food & Wine and Gourmet magazine highlight Dashe!
Check out the June 2006 issues of Food and Wine magazine as well as Gourmet magazine, for photos and mentions of Dashe Cellars wines. The June issue of Food & Wine Magazine is dedicated to barbequed and grilled foods, and our 2003 Dry Creek Zinfandel was called out as one of the best to go with things hot off the grill. We couldn't agree more. This was a great mention of our wines, since they were looking at wines throughout the world and the Dashe zin was one of only three US wines selected for the list. There's even a photo of the bottle! To celebrate, we suggest grilling some nice ribs or a rack of lamb, and enjoying them with a big glass of Dashe zin. (We think the Todd Brothers Old Vine zin is perfect, but we're ok with any of our wines being enjoyed). The mention of our wines in Gourmet magazine is more visual than anything else--they loved our new WineFindTM tab on the back of the newly designed Dashe Cellars labels. This tear-off tab on the back label contains all the information a customer needs to find the wine. For example, it contains the name, vineyard, and vintage of the wine, as well as Dashe Cellars contact information to visit the website or call the winery. These are two world-class magazines, and we're pleased as punch that they're mentioning our wines in the same month. Just shows you that people are starting to recognize that Dashe is one of the heavy-hitters in the Sonoma wine world--even if we are in Oakland! "Today" show rates Dashe in 8 best zins for Valentines Day!
We finally made it on television! Yes, indeed, on February 8th, the Today Show highlighted zins on as the perfect wine for Valentine's Day, and selected our 2003 Dry Creek Zinfandel as number 2 out of 43 zinfandels tasted as the perfect wine to share with a lover, wife, husband, or significant other. We must say we agree. Just imagine if they had the 2005 Late Harvest Zin for the review! They'd have given us the whole article. For those of you who want to see the written transcript of the article, just go to http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11221080/page/2/. For those of you who don't want to click, here's a clipping of the comments on the wine itself (yes, yes we know they said we're in Alameda, but we are in fact in Oakland now): Dashe 2003 Dry Creek ($22): Highly perfumed, filled with blackberry and currant. Slightly hot at the beginning, but finishes with dusty, dry tannins. The grapes are from Sonoma, but the wine is made in Alameda, Calif., by husband-and-wife team Michael and Anne Dashe. A romantic wine, indeed. Dry Creek tasting room
Things are going quite well at the new tasting facility, the Family Wineries Tasting Room, at 4791 Dry Creek road just north of Lambert Bridge in Dry Creek Valley. Opened since March 2005, the Family Wineries Tasting Room—Dry Creek combines the efforts of six family-owned wineries, in a facility with a dramatic view of the Dry Creek valley. You can taste wines, bring a picnic lunch and sip wines on tables overlooking the valley, and enjoy the rustic ambience of the old barn and other historic buildings at the site. Since the site has quite a bit of space to have an event, we are also envisioning having at least one Dashe Cellars open house each year on the bluff overlooking the valley, right next to the tasting room.
